# Brume vs Easypanel

> Easypanel does more today: templates, backups, teams and clusters. Brume is an open source alpha that keeps its panel on your tailnet and away from Docker.

Alpha 0.1 · in progress. This is https://brume.dev/vs/easypanel in Markdown, for agents and terminals.

|  | Brume | Easypanel |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Admin panel | On your tailnet only | [A web UI, with 2FA on every plan](https://easypanel.io/pricing) |
| Docker access | Only a separate agent, which listens on nothing | [The panel drives Docker Swarm](https://easypanel.io/docs) |
| If the panel is hacked | Nothing without your session | [Deploy any image, even reboot the host](https://easypanel.io/docs/api/server/reboot) |
| Inbound ports | None, through Cloudflare Tunnel | [80 and 443, for Traefik](https://easypanel.io/docs) |
| AI agents | A CLI and a local MCP server. Irreversible actions wait for your approval | [A CLI and remote MCP server, on paid plans](https://easypanel.io/pricing) |
| Backups | Encrypted dumps on your S3, full restore of the server | [Scheduled, to S3 and more, on paid plans](https://easypanel.io/pricing) |
| Several servers | One server in alpha 0.1, more planned | [Worker nodes on Business, in alpha](https://easypanel.io/pricing) |
| License | Free and open source (FSL-1.1-ALv2, Apache 2.0 after two years) | [Proprietary. Free plan, then a license per server](https://easypanel.io/pricing) |
| Maturity | Alpha 0.1, in progress | [Since 2022, 7.7M Docker Hub pulls](https://hub.docker.com/r/easypanel/easypanel) |

Facts checked on November 1, 2026 in each project's official docs. "If the panel is hacked" is our reading of them. Brume is shown in its recommended modes: Cloudflare Tunnel and Tailscale.

## Where Brume is different

- Open source and free, with no per-server license.
- The panel stays on your tailnet, behind your Tailscale identity and a second factor.
- The panel never holds Docker: a separate agent does, under its own policy.

## Where Easypanel is better today

- 845 one-click templates, plus managed MySQL, MariaDB, Postgres, MongoDB and Redis.
- Cloudflare Tunnel and 2FA on every plan, Free included.
- Multiple users with project-level access control, on Growth and up.

**Pick Easypanel if…** You want templates, backups and teams today, and a per-server license is fine.

**Pick Brume if…** You want open source, and a panel on your tailnet that never touches Docker.

## Install

```sh
curl -sSL https://brume.dev/install.sh | bash
```

Needs a fresh Debian or Ubuntu VPS and an S3-compatible bucket. Cloudflare and Tailscale recommended.
