# Brume vs Dokploy

> Dokploy has more today: several servers, 590+ templates, a CLI and an MCP server. Brume is a one-server alpha whose panel stays on your tailnet and never holds the Docker socket.

Alpha 0.1 · in progress. This is https://brume.dev/vs/dokploy in Markdown, for agents and terminals.

|  | Brume | Dokploy |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Admin panel | On your tailnet only | [Port 3000, or Tailscale-only by hand](https://docs.dokploy.com/docs/core/guides/tailscale) |
| Docker access | Only a separate agent, which listens on nothing | [Docker socket mounted read-write in the panel](https://dokploy.com/install.sh) |
| If the panel is hacked | Nothing without your session | [Root on the host, through the Docker socket](https://docs.docker.com/engine/security/) |
| Inbound ports | None, through Cloudflare Tunnel | [80, 443 and 3000](https://docs.dokploy.com/docs/core/installation) |
| Install | One command on Debian or Ubuntu | [One command as root, which sets up Docker Swarm](https://dokploy.com/install.sh) |
| AI agents | A CLI and a local MCP server. Irreversible actions wait for your approval | [A CLI and an MCP server with 508 tools](https://github.com/Dokploy/mcp) |
| Backups | Encrypted dumps on your S3, full restore of the server | [Scheduled database backups to S3](https://docs.dokploy.com/docs/core/databases/backups) |
| Several servers | One server in alpha 0.1, more planned | [Remote servers, build servers and Swarm nodes](https://docs.dokploy.com/docs/core/remote-servers) |
| License | Free and open source (FSL-1.1-ALv2, Apache 2.0 after two years) | [Apache 2.0; SSO and audit logs under a separate license](https://github.com/Dokploy/dokploy/blob/canary/LICENSE.MD) |
| Maturity | Alpha 0.1, in progress | [Releases since 2024, 38k GitHub stars](https://github.com/Dokploy/dokploy/releases) |

Facts checked on November 1, 2026 in each project's official docs. "If the panel is hacked" is our reading of them. Brume is shown in its recommended modes: Cloudflare Tunnel and Tailscale.

## Where Brume is different

- The panel never holds the Docker socket. A separate agent does.
- Private panel and zero open ports from the install, not from a guide.
- An AI agent's irreversible actions wait for your approval.

## Where Dokploy is better today

- Remote servers, build servers and Docker Swarm, from one panel.
- 593 templates and native Docker Compose support.
- Passkeys and TOTP for every user. SSO, SCIM and audit logs in Enterprise.

**Pick Dokploy if…** You need several servers, Compose stacks or SSO today.

**Pick Brume if…** One server is enough, and you want a private panel and closed ports without setting them up by hand.

## Install

```sh
curl -sSL https://brume.dev/install.sh | bash
```

Needs a fresh Debian or Ubuntu VPS and an S3-compatible bucket. Cloudflare and Tailscale recommended.
